I remember 2009,
Miami, a year when I had just graduated from FIU (Florida International University),
and was struggling to find work as an IT iOS developer. Many of my friends had
applied for jobs via placement company Miami. All of them
were pre-pay placement companies,
meaning payment of costly registration fees. For me, boy, it was tough! To
apply individually meant to first define mutual needs of us both, and, later to
develop and nurture solutions mutually to reach a win-win situation. When you
become the only IT sourcer for
yourself, many things can go wrong! Let us take a brief look at them.
1. Timing:
Many times, when a potential candidate directly approaches a Firm (and not through any placement company), there is likely to be a misunderstanding between the joining date. The Firm many times wants the employee to join immediately and sometimes only after a particular date. There is also discrepancy about the shift timings, if there are any, and if there are, these can be handled expertly by an IT sourcer. 2. Job Profile: The waters concerning job profile description (on paper) are murky, and the actual tasks at workplace are even murkier! In a placement company, this never happens, due to a time-tested grapevine and expert soft skills.
2.No Interview Performance Feedback Loops:
I have seen many friends, who go for an interview, come back home, and then after few days, make inaccurate assumptions drawing wrong conclusions, procrastinate on calling the company, or simply wonder what happened? A placement company holds your hands, and keeps you well- informed, until your case reaches a completion. A similar confusion can happen with the Firm also, when it is not sure whether a potential candidate will accept its job offer. An IT sourcer can arrange for dummy interviews and teach you to give the right answers, and, most importantly, to ask the right questions!
3. Sea of Conflicts:
There is a potential for the arising of many conflicts between you and the employer, because, as we all know, the interests of both are a tangent to each other! An IT sourcer prevents this by smoothening out the rough spots and highlighting the benefits to both parties until a mutual agreement is reached.
4. Moving Beyond the Space Time Barrier:
Applying directly, many of my contemporaries faced limitations in appearing for interviews for jobs that were not in Miami, or which were not in the USA. This, perhaps, is the most important benefit of an IT sourcer! A candidate has potential to get a job anywhere irrespective of his/her location on the globe.
Don’t worry if
you can’t pay to the placement company Miami beforehand. Post paid placement companies also exist, that
receive a certain percentage directly from the employing Firm, for providing
them a potential employee!
If
you ask me, today, placement companies
have reached the height of appreciation, when it comes to raising the National
employment levels, and are doing a service to the Nation as a whole!
