Recruitment Agency – which one should you hire?

There are predominantly three types of recruitment agencies operating in the employment sector. Small sized recruitment companies, boutique styled companies and large multispecialty firms. You can choose any one of these depending on your requirements and budget. Let’s see in detail the pros and cons of each of these types.

Small staffing company

This type of company is usually a one man show or it may be a group of more than two recruiters. Such staffing agency usually runs of the mill services for low end job recruitments especially for local firms and small businesses. Naturally they charge very less but their services are meant for less refined businesses like handyman, local farm labor, construction labor, paint job labor etc. hence not very ideal for technical recruitments.

Being a small outfit it relies on online candidate database and third party resources minimizing the window of high quality recruitment. Secondly this kind of staffing agency neither has the infrastructure nor the resources to conduct interviews, aptitude tests etc. The truth is it doesn’t provide the sort of requirement that requires interviews, aptitude tests etc.

Medium Sized or Boutique Styled Company

This sort of company is larger in size with usually more that at least 20 employees. It may be a private outfit or a proprietary concern. A boutique styled placement company certainly has better resources compared to a small one. It will have its own candidate database and it can offer multi-sector recruitment or may specialize in providing recruitment to only one sector like example medical placement agency, IT sourcer etc.

It is adequately funded staffing agency with its own infrastructure at to conduct personal interviews, group discussion and technical aptitude tests if necessary. That considerably reduces the time and money any employer needs to invest in conducting recruitment campaign. It can provide reliable placement solutions at relatively quicker speed since they have their own database. If your requirement surpasses their database they can quickly get in touch with their contacts from the relevant industry and get the candidate you want in very short period. It will charge its clients depending on the type of recruitment and priority of recruitment. Replacement guarantee is a standard practice however guarantee period may vary from agency to agency.

Large Multispecialty Firms

This type of firm is usually very large consisting of different departments dedicated to a particular sector. For example it will have separate medical recruitment department with a number of sourcers. So if you need to fill multiple vacancies then you will need to hire a multispecialty staffingcompany with deeper resources. It is generally used to fill high end and difficult to fill vacancies that require skilled and experienced candidates. Naturally recruiters working in such company are more experienced and possess excellent negotiations skills.

Although hiring large placement company is expensive it provides very professional service making it number one choice for all medium and large scale companies. It has sound infrastructure and financial resources to conduct interviews, aptitude tests etc.
